For now, I shall live in a new Kingdom: Forgotten Daydreams. I'm hoping this will be more me and more lovely than this Kingdom, which I've grown quite disappointed in. I will not delete this old Kingdom, for it is a peekhole into my past self, but I may not frequent it as often.

Pocket Watch

The sand in the hourglass trickles away, sliding down... down... down... vanishing. Come back, I whisper. Come back.

I've stolen the White Rabbit's Pocket Watch. It's ticking, ticking... each second fairy dust slips through my fingers. I hide it in a jar and lock it away, where the Ticking Crocodile won't find it.

I still remember how to get to Neverland–– second star to the right. But some days I've forgotten how to fly. I cling to my happy thoughts, memories forever preserved as a constellation in the stars: searching for fairies at the bottom of the garden, gathering seashells scattered along the shore, lazy summer afternoons spent cloud watching and blowing dandelions. I'll never forget. I can't.

I'm twenty years old today. Too old, way too old, but not old enough to stop believing.

Silence

Brew

She had spent countless hours over her gurgling cauldron. Her eyebrows had long ago burned off, her hair was a tangle of sweaty locks and burns were shiny crimson splotches across her arms. She labored diligently long into every night, determined not to quit; she was so close to making her breakthrough discovery. Yet every night turned out the same: she’d fall asleep in the midst of cutting up dried roots or pig’s tongue, the cauldron’s bubbling a soothing lullaby.

But then one day…

It was an accident, really. Who knew that a handful of peach rose petals, seven black swan feathers, a teaspoon of honey, a sprinkle of sugar, two fresh raspberries and a dash of cinnamon would be the secret to flying? (Provided, of course, that you stirred the mixture clockwise, counter clockwise, centre to the edge, then edge to the centre a total of 777 times while singing Amazing Grace.)

She just had to test her potion. Without a moment’s hesitation, she dashed to her ladder and climbed to the rooftop of her twenty story flat. She raised the goblet to her chapped lips and was instantly enveloped in the delightful, airy sweetness of her concoction as it danced down her throat.

With a deep breath, she leapt from the building. The clouds were a heavenly swirl around her as the cool breeze carried her through the ocean blue sky. It had worked: she was flying! She was a genius! She was going to be so famous!

Later, the Police Investigators submitted their report: suicide.

“Something about a diagnosis.”
We focused on the Doctor leaning against the pasty white wall, light glowing ominously on his starched scrubs; he looked like an archangel perched over the Book of Life.
‘If he’s standing at the gleaming gate, I’m turning back.’
I laughed at that; the Doctor gave me a look before returning to his paperwork.
‘Don’t laugh; you look like you’re crazy.’
Scratching scribbling filled the room.
Mother rested an icy hand on my arm––– pat, pat, pat. Translation: “It’ll be alright. Don’t worry.”
Don’t worry, her catch phrase.
The Doctor began to rummage in a cabinet.
“He’s getting the medicine, the one he promised would––”
‘No! He can’t do that.’
‘Do what?’
‘Make us disappear.’
‘Don’t be silly; we can’t just vanish.’
The twisting of a faucet and water bouncing in a paper cup echoed through the room.
Pat, pat–– two taps. I glanced at mother, with her worried, sunken eyes. A plea to cooperate.
The Doctor approached, three pills in his latex gloved hand. I wanted to protest, but at mother’s pat, pat, I obediently opened my mouth. The pills slid down my throat.
‘Don’t worry, little pills can’t get rid of us.’
‘We’ll never.... leave.... don’t.... worry....’
Silence.
A spurt of panic rose in my chest. “Are you there?”
‘. . . .’
“Answer me!”
‘. . . .’
Tears poured down my cheeks. The silence was a deafening echo. “Gone. All gone. Gone...”
Drained. Empty.
One pat, a brief touch on my shoulder–– “I’m sorry.”

Ocean Dream

I swim in an Underwater Realm amongst fish and coral reefs, my tail glistening in the ocean light. My fingers brush against the seaweed and seashells buried deep in the sand, stars of the sea. Pearls are laced in my hair, glitter dots my skin. Magic vibrates through the water in hues of green and blue.

I was born to be a Mermaid.

Mother bakes, Father reads, the children play, baby sleeps. My narration is weaving, my mind creating; imagining. For this precious moment, I'm a little girl again.

Fantasy Tea

Gowns of lace and silk, flowers weaved into auburn locks. Fine china and ribbons; little ladies playing dress up. A little cream, two scoops of sugar. Warm porcelain between your fingers, steam tickling your nose as it twirls in the air with soft, bubbly laughter. Gooey biscuits and strawberry tarts staining white pressed gloves, sugar sprinkled on dimpled rosy cheeks.

This movie is perhaps one of my most favorites. It's full of wonder and magic, promoting the messages we need to see magic everywhere, exercise our imaginations and embrace our inner child. Anything is possible.

Believe in yourself and your dreams, find your "sparkle," and you'll create an amazing story just waiting to be read.

Locked Doors

A Fairy gives me a key to unlock an endless corridor of doors. I peek through each keyhole, searching for answers to where they lead. Secrets become heated whispers against my ear, symphonies of sound locked in the treasure chest of my heart blossoming inside me. Which door I open is a mystery only I know the answer to, but you'll be able to guess by how I live. Click! goes the lock; the handle turns, the door creaks open...

Magical Sunshine

My soul sings of Spring sunshine, childhood light and Summer evenings; the magic of making mud pies and rolling down grassy hills, or swinging so high you touch the sky with the tips of your toes; finding images in the clouds and searching for butterflies.

Birds sing with the wind's waltz, weaving through the trees and skating along the earth's green carpet. The air feels and smells of Spring, warm golden sunshine cloaks me. Enchantment surrounds me, fills me, whispers secrets in my ear.

Happiness is swelling inside me. Sparkles of imagination, joy, laughter, inspiration, love, beauty and magic are all dancing through my veins. It's the feeling of dreaming that perfect dream.

I spent five glorious hours outside today and feel richer than if I had found a treasure trove of gems. All 300 precious minutes were jewels.

I'm totally and completely happy. Perfection exists.

Skin Shedding

I think this is such a beautiful description about change and I fell in love with it the moment I read it. Lately I've done a lot of 'skin shedding' and feel like an entirely new person from who I was a year ago, months ago, weeks ago, even days ago.

Though with each part of me that dies, something more wonderful is born.

Down the Rabbit Hole

I tumbled down the Rabbit Hole 5 March into a new and darker Wonderland, full of many seemingly impossible things: talking flowers, vanishing cats, potions and cakes that can make you shrink or grow, and Mad Tea Parties.

This isn't Lewis Carroll's tale of Alice, but Tim Burton's imagined continuation of the story–– a journey of self discovery and good vs. evil as imaginative Alice is caught up in a unique, magical world under the reign of the Red Queen, far different than the Wonderland she thought she knew.

I was awed by the visual feast and inspired by this wonderful film's magic and inspiration. I must tumble back down to Wonderland soon.

Autumn's Song

Rainbow Treasure

All week I've been looking for rainbows. This afternoon, in the midst of the pouring rain, I finally found one.

First I shot a photograph from my window, but the reflection in the glass ruined the rainbow's majesty, so I ran outside.

It was so breathtaking, with such a bright glow and stunning colours. It was truly a taste of heaven on earth.

Did you know rainbows have reflections? Anything alive and magical does.

Soon the rain trickled to a stop, and the rainbow began fading to go travel to another sky somewhere else in the world.

I had been in such a hurry to capture the rainbow that I ran outside without any shoes. The grass was wet and cold; the sound of mud squished between my toes.

Even though the rainbow had gone, the sky wasn't finished with marvelling me. The sun shone brightly through the trees in a friendly wave goodbye.

Magical Week

I had a Magical Week:

Made brownies–– with sprinkles, of course–– and gooey peanut butter cookies.

Treated Myself to Flowers as I love myself and enjoy making myself happy. Flowers are the perfect way; they're magic, you know.

Visited with my Reflection.

Stared out my Window. Windows are constantly changing Portals; you never know what you'll see when you peek out.

And Captured Sunsets; I love learning the Sky's mood through the variety of Sunsets and Sunrises I'm blessed to receive.

Tomorrow begins another Wonderful Week, with New Treasures to Discover and Adventures to Live!

Exploring

This evening I went exploring. I decided to take a recently discovered pathway that runs along the gate near my flat.

The birds in the branches above me provided me with songs to walk with.

I passed ivy hugging trunks, tangles of twigs dancing closely together to keep warm and cobwebs against the sky. There were also many mysterious muddy paths that lead to unknown destinations.

I found a Rabbit burrow and peered inside, but unfortunately no one was home.

I met my neighbours, the cows and sheep that live on the land bordering my own. I paused to talk with them and they graciously spared me a few moments conversation, even though I had interrupted them in the midst of their dinner.

I wanted to see where all the diverging pathways led, but Miss Darkness was starting to cover my world, and all the little ice faries were pinching my hands and cheeks with cold.

I found a single blue feather as token of this evening's adventures. It'll be a treasure for my pocket.

I love exploring.

Cake's Aroma

I love the scent of a cake baking filling the kitchen. Sometimes I imagine I live in a tiny apartment above my very own bakery. I see myself with flour sprinkled in my clothes and hair, kneading dough to bake into delicious pies, cookies, cakes and homemade bread.

Tonight's creation was a carrot cake. Each bite is full of dancing spices that make me think of exotic places unexplored.

Key

Mother bought me this key on a chain. It has a crown to symbolise royalty and a Victorian cameo to remind me of the beauty and simplicity of eras past. It fits an unknown lock: I'm still trying different doors to see what it'll open. I'm pretty sure it's the key to my inner self, but until I know for sure, I'll wear it around my neck and keep looking.

Night Life

Outside the world is covered in night. Against its dark blanket are pinpricks of lantern light, which glow like the eyes of a cat. The stars hanging above are lost, faraway city lights. There is something so mysterious about them.

The world is holding its breath, standing still, waiting... waiting... waiting for the morning to dawn and for the earth to awaken. But the night is already pulsing with life: the birds are singing, rabbits are hopping leisurely on the lawns below my window, the wind is waltzing through the trees and sky.

Even darkness is lovely.

A Dash of Sprinkles

This evening I baked sugar cookies and frosted them with vanilla icing and sprinkled them with the colours of the rainbow. I also bought eight drops of gold and placed them in a vase, because flowers' beauty, heavenly scent and friendly smiles uplift my spirits.

Baking is always an adventure: you mix ingredient after ingredient and never know what new taste you're going to discover! I love surprises.

The Illusionist

Tonight I watched The Illusionist. There's something so magical and mysterious about this movie. It provides the same thrill as watching a full length magic show: the entire time the audience holds their breath, just waiting for the magician to pull the rabbit out of his hat. But then he does something totally unexpected, and we realise with glee that we've been tricked. When the magician takes his final bow at the conclusion of the show, we're in awe at all the marvels we've just witnessed, and come to full understand the meaning of illusion.

Nothing is what it seems.

I love looking at the sky and seeing each day's new masterpiece. I can just imagine an artist with his blank canvas, dipping his brush into countless colours and stroking his design with breathtaking light and beauty. I especially love looking to see if he has any pictures hidden amongst the clouds. It's a constantly changing painting.

I could gaze up towards the heavens for hours, with my only company being sweet fruit tea and my daydreams.

The Imagination Train

I spend most of my time inside my head. I love riding a train of thought to whatever destination it takes me. Upon arrival, I dance with a variety of magical images; it truly is a wonderful and enchanting experience.

I love living my life with a childlike wonder and building castles in the skies of my imagination. Life is so magical and beautiful. Happiness and beauty is found all around us; all one has to do is search for it. What are you waiting for? Hop on the Imagination Train and travel to your next wondrous destination.
